A RESOLUTION:
PRESENTED April 28, 1998

AWARDING PURCHASE CONTRACTS FOR A BACKHOE-LOADER AND
A BRUSH CHIPPER
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received on April 10, 1998 for a backhoe-loader and a brush
chipper; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the backhoe-loader is Vernon E.
Stup Company of Frederick, Maryland with a bid of $70,040.00 including an allowance for trade-in of a
1983 Case 580E backhoe-loader; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the brush chipper is M.S.C.
Equipment, Inc. of Richmond, Virginia with a bid of $16,625.00; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering and Public Works recommends award of the
contracts to the lowest responsive and responsible bidders;
WHEREAS, adequate funds for the purchase of the equipment are included in the adopted FY98
Budget.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
The Town Manager is authorized to execute a purchase contract for a backhoe-loader with
Vernon E. Stup Company in the amount of $70,040.00 and with M.S.C. Equipment, Inc. for a brush
chipper in the amount of $16,625.00 in accordance with the bid documents and specifications.
