HomeMy Public PortalAbout1998_05_26_R122The Town of Leesburg, rg ma RESOLUTION NO. 98-122 PRESENTED May 26, 1998 ADOPTED May 26, 1998 A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A 1998 VIRGINIA RECREATION TRAILS FUND PROGRAM APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE I OF THE IDA LEE PARK TRAIL WHEREAS, the National Recreational Trails Act was created to establish a program for allocating funds to the states for recreational trails and trail-related projects; and WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia established the Virginia Recreational Trails Fund Program grant for the purpose of providing and maintaining the recreational trails and trail-related facilities; and WHEREAS, the town supports the submission of the Virginia Recreational Trails Fund for the design and construction of Phase I of the Ida Lee Park Trail; and WHEREAS, this trail will improve pedestrian access from North King Street to the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center and the Rust Library; and WHEREAS, this project is estimated to cost approximately $85,000 of which the town would be responsible for providing funding for fifty percent or $42,500; and WHEREAS, this grant program is a reimbursement program, requiring the town being capable of financing the project while requesting periodic reimbursements. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: A 1998 Virginia Recreational Trails Fund Program grant application is hereby authorized to be submitted to assist in the funding of the design and construction of Phase I of the Ida Lee Park Trail.
