AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR BRICK SIDEWALK REPAIRS
WHEREAS, the FY98 Capital Improvement Program includes a project for Brick Sidewalk Repairs with
an adopted budget of $75,000; and
WHEREAS, sealed bids for the work were solicited by public advertisement and three bids were received
on May 18, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the bids were evaluated pursuant to the bid documents and the town Purchasing Policy; and
WHEREAS, Gull Corporation of Leesburg, Virginia, was declared to be the lowest responsive and
responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, bids for removal and replacement of the existing brick sidewalks were requested in four
alternates to provide Council the opportunity to preserve the existing granite curbs, and to receive an alternate price
for a more durable base for the sidewalks; and
WHEREAS, Council selected Alternate 2 which provides for removing and resetting existing granite curbs,
and constructing new brick sidewalks on a concrete base, which requires an additional appropriation of $10,000.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I: The town manager is authorized to execute, on behalf of the town, a contract with Gull
Corporation in the amount of $80,658 for brick sidewalk repairs.
SECTION II: An appropriation is made from the unappropriated balance in the general fund to budget
account 200-4102-300-317 in the amount of $10,000.
