New Exhibit of Watercolor Paintings by Jill Poyerd Opens at
Leesburg Town Exhibit Hall on Friday, February 3, 2012
Leesburg, VA (February 2, 2012) – A
new exhibit of watercolor paintings by
artist Jill Poyerd will open in the
Leesburg Town Exhibit Hall on Friday,
February 3, 2012, as part of the
monthly First Friday arts celebration.
The Leesburg Town Exhibit Hall is
located on the first floor of the
Leesburg Town Hall at 25 West Market
Street in downtown Leesburg.
Jill Poyerd has been involved in art
since she was a child, watching and
learning from her mother, a successful
oil painter. When she was a teenager,
Jill’s parents ran art workshops at their
country inn in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. At these workshops, Jill was exposed to the work
of a wide range of artists, including Don Getz, Hall Scroggy and Edward Lis. In 1991, Jill earned her
Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications with additional studies in fine art. Upon
graduation, Jill married and devoted the next decade to traveling throughout Europe and raising a
family.
Jill re-entered the art world in 2003 by studying watercolor under nationally recognized artist, Jean
Gill, and has been painting professionally since 2006. In these few short years, her work has
become a recognized feature at regional exhibitions. Jill’s paintings hang in private collections
around the country, have been featured in numerous one-woman shows, and have won several
awards. Most recently, her work was honored at the 2011 Baltimore Watercolor Society’s Mid-
Atlantic Exhibition. She is a requested speaker and has curated group shows throughout the
Washington DC metro area. A resident of Loudoun County, Jill is a signature member of the
National Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Virginia Watercolor Society, and
Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. For more information about Jill and her art, please visit
