APPROVING A REQUEST TO MODIFY THE WILSON AVENUE ROAD
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
The sidewalk proposed on the east side of the 200 block of Wilson Avenue along the frontage of
lots 5 through 1 lA may be removed from the Wilson Avenue Capital Project.

WHEREAS, a Capital Improvements Project to widen the road, install sidewalks and curb and
gutter and improve storm drainage in the 200 block of Wilson Avenue is currently in the final design
stage; and
WHEREAS, a meeting with residents of the neighborhood was held on September 14, 1998 to
allow residents to review and comment on the proposed improvements; and
WHEREAS, an issue which was discussed at the meeting is the need for sidewalks on both sides
of the streets since the residents on the east side of the street have no on-street parking and addition of a
sidewalk would reduce the number of parking spaces in driveways; and
WHEREAS, a petition to the Town Council from the property owners of the 200 block of Wilson
Avenue requesting that the sidewalk proposed on the east side of Wilson Avenue be omitted from the
Capital Project was received on October 9, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the 200 block of Wilson Avenue is not a through street and on-street parking is very
