A RESOLUTION:
AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH NORTHERN VIRGINIA
UTILITY PROTECTION SERVICE (NVUPS)
WHEREAS, Title 56-265-16:1 of the Virginia State Code requires jurisdictions maintaining
and burying underground utility lines to join notification centers for their area; and
WHEREAS, Title 56, Chapter 10.3 of the Virginia State Code entitles municipal
jurisdictions to become members of such notification centers; and
WHEREAS, an increase in construction activity within the corporate limits and areas
outside the corporate limits, served by the town, necessitates the need for the town to become a
member of such notification centers (Miss Utility) to assure proper notification prior to any
construction activity.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
The manager is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a membership agreement with
Northern Virginia Utility Protection Service, Inc., in a form approved by the Deputy Town
Attorney.
