HomeMy Public PortalAbout1998_11_24_R272The Town o~ Leesburg, rgm a PRESENTED November 24, 1998 RESOLUTION NO. 98-272 ADOPTED November 24, 1998 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING THE MISSION OF THE DOGWOOD COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the Dogwood Committee was organized to promote a tree planting program along the Leesburg Bypass; and WHEREAS, the committee requests permission to plant 400 Kousa Dogwood trees in the bypass fight-of-way owned by VDOT and the town; and WHEREAS, the committee has advised the town that it has been in contact with VDOT; and WHEREAS, the specific location of the trees has not been finalized; and WHEREAS, the committee requests that the town assume maintenance of all of the trees after the one-year warranty. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The purpose of the Dogwood Committee to plant 400 trees in the VDOT and town bypass right-of-way is hereby approved. SECTION II. Staff is directed to budget for tree maintenance following the one- year warranty. SECTION 1II. Final location of the trees remains subject to the VDOT and town right-of-way permit process including approval by the town's arborist. -2- RESOLUTION - Dogwood Committee PASSED this 24t~ day of November, 1998.
