SUPPORTING THE BUREAU OF JUSTICE LOCAL LAW
ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (LLEBGP)
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice has established the Local Law Enforcement Block
Grant Program for the purpose of reducing crime and improving public safety; and
WHEREAS, the program provides localities discretion on the designation of the grant
funds; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Police Department has applied for a LLEBGP to pay for
overtime for police officers; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg is eligible to receive $11,537 in federal funds by
providing matching funds of $1,232; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council held a public hearing on this grant program on January
26, 1999; and
WHEREAS, no public comment was received.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
The Town Council hereby endorses and accepts the Bureau of Justice Local Law
Enforcement Block Grant Program.
