F.1.CROSSROADS 143rd & WALLIN – TRUCKING REPAIR AND PARKING
Staff seeks the Village Board of Trustees input regarding the use of semi-truck repair and
semi-truck long term parking for the Crossroads Business Center located at the
southeast corner of 143rd Street and Wallin Drive.

Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop of the President
and the Board of Trustees
Held on May 23, 2022
In the Boardroom
Mayor Argoudelis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Board Present: Mayor Argoudelis, Trustee
Wojowski, Trustee Benton, Trustee Calkins, Trustee Kalkanis, Trustee Larson, and Trustee Ruane.
Others Present: Joshua Blakemore, Village Administrator; Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk; Scott
Threewitt, Assistant Public Works Director; Jon Proulx, Planning Director; Jack Malec, Management
Analyst; Jake Melrose, Economic Development Director; Lonnie Spires, Building Official; and John
Konopek, Chief of Police. There were approximately 4 persons in the audience.
Trustee Calkins moved to approve the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop held on April
11, 2022. Second by Trustee Benton. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried.
PRESIDENTIAL COMMENTS
Mayor Argoudelis commented on the warmer weather and people enjoying the amenities.
TRUSTEE COMMENTS
Trustee Benton encouraged everyone to be aware of motorcycles.
PUBLIC COMMENTS

WORKSHOP
1) HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION AWARDS
Mr, Michael Bortel, Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission gave a presentation highlighting
the Historic Districts, National Register, BTD Adaptive Re-use, potential projects, pending projects, and
coming attractions. Mr. Bortel recognized past Commissioner Leif Hendricksen for his eleven years of
service. Mr. Bortel presented the Preservation Award for Architectural Details to 23719 W. Lockport
Street and the Heritage Tree Recognition for the Common Hackberry Tree at 24025 W. Commercial.
2)PLAINFIELD FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
Administrator Blakemore stated that the Village previously entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement
with the Plainfield Fire Protection District for the use of the property on Ridge Road for a satellite station.
The agreement has lapsed. Chief Stratton has expressed an interest in re-engaging the land donation
Intergovernmental Agreement. Chief Stratton stated that the 143rd Street West extension will accelerate
the need for a satellite location in that area. There were no objections from Board. Administrator
Blakemore noted that the agreement will be refreshed and brought back to the Board for formal approval.
Mayor Argoudelis thanked staff and read the reminders.
Trustee Calkins moved to adjourn. Second by Trustee Benton. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed.
Motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
