HomeMy Public PortalAbout1955-04-27 Special MeetingAPR11 19, 1955 The Council of Bel. Harbour Village met. Tuesday, April 19 1955 at 9:15 A. M. in order to check the list of Freeholders for the election to be held May 3, 1955 and also the list of voters for the council election to be held the same day. Present were Messrs. Collins, Stokely, and Dr. Leonard. Also W. H. Webb. Village 'tanager and Mary Wetterer, Village Clerk. The Clerk informed the council that at the close of registration period at 5:00 P. M., April 16th there were a total of One Hundred Six (106) Registered Voters, including Seventy -Six (76) Freeholders. The list of Free- holders having been checked at the Miami Beach Abstract Company by the Village Clerk was read to the council and on motion of Mr. Collins, seconded by Mr. Stokely, the list was accepted. The list of voters to participate in the council election was read and on motion of Mr. Stokely, seconded by Mr. Collins, the list was approved, There being no further business before the meeting on motion duly made, seconded and carried the meeting adjourned, Attest: Village Clerk APRIL 27, 1955 .A Mayor tom% The Council of Pal Harbour Village met, for a Special Meeting, Wednesday, April 27, 1955 at 9:30 A. M. to discuss what action should be taken regarding poss- ible Legislative action to abolish Bel Harbour Village. Present were: Messrs. Collins, Stokely; and Dr, Leonard, Also present were W. H. Webb, Village Manager; Mary Wetterer, Village Clerk; Thomas Anderson, Village Attorney and Robert C. Graham, develop^r of Pal Harbour Village, Mr. Graham thanked the council for permitting him to meet with them and outlined instances in the past when it was necessary for him to take surround- ing areas to court to keep Dal Harbour from being annexed to them, Mr. Anderson reported that he had talked with Mr. Herrell in Tallahassee that morning and had been assured that the delegation would take no action until he had been notified. It was the council's opinion that Mr. Webb should contact Mr. Jack Crim, APRTL 27_ 1Q5g adjourned, Attest: President of the Dade County League of Municipalities, and see if they would call a meeting of all league members and see what stand the rest of the communities were going to take on the matter. Mr.Oraham offered to send his attorney or anyone the village would care to name to Tallahassee to check with Ahe Legislators, but Mr. Anderson said he did not think it necessary at present. After further discussion the following Resolution was offered by Mr. Stokely. "BE IT RESOLVED by the Council. of Pal Harlow. V1 is - th.i'.. Senator from the 13th Senatorial District of Florida, the honorable R. B. Gautier, and the Representatives from Dade County, Horor- able George Cj{eli, honorable W. O Merrell, and Honorable John P. Orr, be requested to introduce no legislation in the pending session of the Florida Legislature which is designed in any way to alter or abolish the Governmentof P.al. Harbour Village without the consent. of the nualified electors thereof. PE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution, certified hy the Village Clerk, be sent to each mem- ber of the aforesaid Dade Country Delegation and the said State Senator." on second of Mr, Collins, the resolution was unanimously passed. M., Wednesday, May 4th in order to verify the results of the council elction held May 3rd, Present were: Messrs. Beatty, Collins, Stokely and Dr Leonard and W. H.
