A RESOLUTION: 99-74 AUTHORIZING THE RECREATION TRAILS PRESENTED March 23, 1999 ADOPTED March 23, 1999 SUBMISSION OF A 1999 VIRGINIA FUND PROGRAM APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE IDA LEE PARK/NORTH KING STREET TRAIL WHEREAS, the National Recreation Trails Act was created to establish a program for allocating funds to the states for recreational trails and trail-related projects; and WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia established the Virginia Recreational Trails Fund Program grant for the purpose of providing and maintaining the recreational trails and trail- related facilities; and WHEREAS, the town supports the submission of the Virginia Recreational Trails Fund for the design and construction of the Ida Lee Park/North King Street Trail; and WHEREAS, this trail will improve pedestrian access along North King Street to Ida Lee Park, the W&OD Trail, and the historic downtown area; and WHEREAS, this project is estimated to cost approximately $250,000 of which the town would be responsible for providing funding for sixty percent or $150,000; and WHEREAS, this grant program is a reimbursement program, requiring the town being capable of financing the project while requesting periodic reimbursements. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: -2- A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF 1999 VIRGINIA RECREATION TRAILS FUND PROGRAM FOR IDA LEE PARK/N. KING ST. TRAIL A 1999 Virginia Recreational Trails Fund Program grant application is hereby authorized to be submitted to assist in the funding of the design and construction of the Ida Lee Park/North King Street Trail.
