RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE BY THE
BOROUGH OF CARTERET OF LANDS KNOWN AS
LOT 1.02 IN BLOCK 5.01 AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO SIGN CONTRACTS PURSUANT THERETO
WHEREAS, the Governing Body has determined that it is in the best interest of the
citizens of the Borough of Carteret that the vacant property known as the Mobil
Property located on Roosevelt Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey, be purchased for the
future construction of a library and community center, on property more particularly
described as Lot 1.02 in Block 5.01 on the Borough of Carteret Tax Map; and
WHEREAS, the Governing Body has determined that the final negotiated price of
$275,000.00 for the purchase of the aforesaid lands is reasonable;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the
Governing Body of the Borough of Carteret that the Mayor is hereby authorized to
enter into formalized contracts for the purchase of the lands and premises known as
the Mobil Property, located on Roosevelt Avenue, in the Borough of Carteret, for the
contract price of $275,000.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract to be entered into for the
aforesaid purchase shall be for the sum of $275,000.00 which purchase shall take
place within a reasonable time hereafter and the premises to be purchased shall be in
good and reasonable condition. Formalized contracts to be entered into will be
reviewed and executed at a later date after presentation to the Governing Body for
its approval of the form and contents.
