AMENDING SECTION 13.08.040 OF THE MOAB MUNICIPAL CODE AND
ALLOWING FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF WATER METERS BY
QUALIFIED PERMITTEES
WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is appropriate to allow qualified permittees to purchase and /or
install water meters for connection to the city water system; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that water connection fees may be reduced for pernittees who
purchase and/or install water meters for connection to the city water system.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Moab City Governing Body does hereby ordain as follows:
That Section 13.08.040 of the Moab Municipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:
13.08.040 Permit--Issuance--Terms.
Upon the payment of all connection fees as set forth in this chapter and upon the approval of the plumbing
inspector and the waterworks superintendent, the city treasurer shall issue a permit to connect with the city water or
sewer system. The permit shall be for each connection and shall give the type of occupancy and address and show
thereon the rules and regulations for sewer and water connections.
The city treasurer shall also issue an order to the waterworks superintendent to extend the water and sewer
service lines from the mains to the property line and install the meter. The subdivider shall install these service lines
in new subdivisions under the direction of the waterworks superintendent. Except when approved by the
waterworks superintendent, the city shall furnish and install water meters. In all cases the city shall inspect
installation of water meters. Permittees approved by the waterworks superintendent to furnish and/or install water
meters shall be entitled to a reduction in the cost of the connection fee equal to the city's cost of providing and/or
installing the water meters.
Approved and adopted by action of the Governing Body of the City of Moab in open session this 27th day
of March, 2001.
