HomeMy Public PortalAbout1999_04_27_r121The Town of l eesburg, trg ma PRESENTED April 27, 1999 RESOLUTION NO. 99-121 ADOPTED April 27, 1999 A RESOLUTION: ROUTE 7 LIMITED ACCESS IMPLEMENTATION PROPOSAL WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Loudoun County Transportation Plans designate the portion of Rt. 7 between Rt. 9 and W. Market Street as limited access; and WHEREAS, the Transportation Committee of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors met on April 13, 1999 regarding a Rt. 7 limited access implementation proposal; and WHEREAS, the Transportation Committee has initiated a 60 day public review process for evaluating implementing a limited access designation of the subject portion of Rt. 7; and WHEREAS, Rt. 7 from W. Market Street to Rt. 9 has numerous existing entrances that currently interfere with establishing limited access to Rt. 7; and WHEREAS, Town Council has adopted Resolution//99-58 which requested the Virginia Department of Transportation to construct 6-lanes on this section of Rt. 7; and WHEREAS, Shenstone and Beacon Hill Subdivisions have requested direct access to Rt. 7 between Rt. 9 and W. Market Street; and WHEREAS, these new developments place additional demands on existing access points; and THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: A RESOLUTION: -2- ROUTE 7 LIMITED ACCESS IMPLEMENTATION PROPOSAL SECTION I. The Town of Leesburg requests the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and VDOT to prepare alternatives for implementing limited access and widening to six-lanes the segment of Rt. 7 from Rt. 9 to W. Market Street. SECTION II. Alternatives need to consider topography, traffic volumes, traffic distribution, connections to existing roads, impact on existing roads and entrances and future impacts on access to private properties. SECTION III. The Town of Leesburg requests that the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors not approve land development or highway improvement proposals which would add additional traffic to existing entrances to Rt. 7 from W.
