A RESOLUTION: PRESENTED May 25. 1999 99-165 ADOPTED May 25. 1999 ENDORSING A PRELIMINARY CONCEPT PLAN FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT AT THE ROUTE 621 PARK SITE WHEREAS, the Town Council has purchased a seventy-seven acre tract of land in April 1999 located along Route 621 known as the Grenata property; and WHEREAS, the Town Council has designated approximately twenty acres of the total tract of land to be used as a future park site; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission has recommended the development of the Route 621 park site to accommodate active recreation; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission has recommended that the active recreation facilities support such uses as youth football, little league baseball, girls softball, and outdoor basketball; and WHEREAS, the County of Loudoun has authorized the use of $1.6 million to assist in the development of the Route 621 park site subject to voter approval in the fall of 1999 referendum; and WHEREAS, the County of Loudoun desires tO enter into an agreement with the Town of Leesburg to assist in the development of the Route 621 park site; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission endorses the concept of a general agreement between the Town of Leesburg and the County of Loudoun to jointly develop the Route 621 park site that is non-binding and subject to terms and conditions mutually agreeable to by both parties in a memorandum of understanding to be executed at a later date; and WHEREAS, the Administration and Public Works Committee of the Leesburg Town Council recommends the development of active recreation facilities at the Route 621 park site; and RESOLUTION: -2- ENDORSING A PRELIMINARY CONCEPT PLAN FOR DEVELOPMENT AT THE ROUTE 621 PARK SITE WHEREAS, the Administration and Public Works Committee of the Leesburg Town Council recommends the concept of a general agreement between the Town of Leesburg and the County of Loudoun. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Town of Leesburg hereby approves the development of active recreation facilities at the Route 621 park site to accommodate such uses as youth football, little league baseball, girls softball, and outdoor basketball· SECTION II.
