A RESOLUTION: 99-172 PRESENTED June 8, ADOPTED June 8, INITIATING AND REFERRING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE REGARDING PARKING 1999 1999 REQUIREMENTS FOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS WHEREAS, the purpose of the Town of Leesburg Zoning Ordinance parking regulations is to ensure the appropriate provision of off-street parking areas and to avoid undue congestion on public streets; and WHEREAS, due to an increasing number of visitors and students driving vehicles to school, the existing parking requirements for school use appear to be insufficient to meet the current need; and WHEREAS, it is the intent and desire of Council to provide adequate off-site parking for all land uses within the Town of Leesburg; and WHEREAS, the proposed amendments will promote the public health, safety and welfare. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. Text amendments to Article 8 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance are hereby initiated to: 1. Require minimum visitor parking standards for schools. 2. Revise as necessary the number of parking spaces required for schools. SECTION II. The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to the Town Council pursuant to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Vir'ginia, as amended. -2- INITIATING AND REFERRING AMENDMENTS TO THE TOWN OF LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE REGARDING SCHOOL PARKING REQUIREMENTS PASSED this 8th day of June , 1999.
