AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, OF THE MOAB MUNICIPAL CODE
REGARDING ANIMAL CONTROL
WHEREAS, the Moab City Council finds that it is in the interest of the health, safety and
welfare of the citizens and inhabitants of the City of Moab to encourage spaying, neutering and
licensing of animals; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance #2002-01 encourages spaying, neutering and licensing of
animals.
NOW THEREFORE, WE, the Governing Body of the City of Moab do hereby ordain the
following:
That Sections 6.04.040, 6.04.070, and 6.04.510 shall be amended and Sections 6.04.071
and 6.04.511 and 6.04.512 shall be added to the Moab Municipal Code, and Section 6.04.110
shall be repealed, to read as follows:
6.04.040 Registration of Dogs.
Every dog owner within City limits shall cause every dog over the age of six months owned by
said owner to be registered and shall pay to the City any applicable registration fee, as provided
for in this Chapter.
6.04.070 Annual Registration —Fees for Un-neutered and Un-spayed dogs.
The fee for an annual license under this chapter shall be twenty dollars for an un-neutered male
dog, or for an un-spayed female dog. No license will be issued for a sum less than the full
annual fee, except, however, the license fee shall be waived for in-service or assistant dogs.
6.04.071 Lifetime Registration —Fees for Neutered and Spayed dogs.
There shall be no fee for a lifetime license under this chapter provided that the following
requirements are met:
a) Male dogs must be neutered.
b) Female dogs must be spayed.
c) Proof of rabies vaccination by means of a current rabies vaccination certificate or
tag must be provided to the City Treasurer's office upon initial licensing and prior
to December 31 of each year. Failure to provide proof will result in revocation of
the lifetime license.
d) The City Treasurer's Office must be notified of change of addresses or ownership
within 30 days.
e) For animals less than six months of age, proof of spay or neuter must be
submitted within six months of registration date.
6.04.510 Registration of Cats.

for in this Chapter.

PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the Governing Body of the City of Moab in open
session this 5( day of ,,ua,)2002. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
passage.
