Continue discussion on the Energy Conservation code review. 5. New Business -Code review assignment for next meeting 6. Public Comments 7. Next meeting date? —January 19th? 8. MINUTES Fuel Gas, Energy Conservation and Mechanical Codes TECHNICAL SUB-COMMITTEE of the City of Jefferson Code Review Steering Committee September 15,2016 COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: COMMITTEE MEMERS ABSENT: Jim Dove,Chair none Bill Luebbert,Vice Chair Rodney Schulte Ken Sandbothe Shawn Rackers EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS PRESENT: Richard Hunt Larry Burkhardt 1. Call to Order Vice Chair Bill Luebbert called the meeting to order at 3:09 pm. 2. Review and approve meeting minutes from August 11,2016. The minutes were approved. 3. Old Business—review list of proposed items The list was reviewed. No changes were proposed. 4. Discuss Energy Conservation code review The Energy Conservation code was discussed in general as a good resource. The primary view is that it is another regulatory action,which is not favored. It might be recommended as a good resource. The committee was asked to look at the code from a mechanical perspective. 5. New Business—code review assignment for next meeting The committee will continue discussion International Energy Conservation Code. 6. Public Comments No public comments were made. 7. Next Meeting date^'October 6th? The next meeting date was moved and will be 3pm on November 17,2016. This will allow the committee members more time to review the Energy Conservation Code. 8. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 4:15 pm. Page 1 of 2 Possible Amendments to the codes: Mechanical Code: 1. Section 106.2—Discussion will need to identify work that will be exempt from permit. An example could be boilers. Other agencies inspect this work and could be considered exempt from permit. The City will need to retain inspectors that are competent and knowledgeable about systems that are inspected that receive a building permit. Otherwise,the work should be exempt from needing a permit. 2. Section 307.2.1 Condensate disposal—Indirect connection should be to a sewer system. The Plumbing Board will be consulted. Page 2 of 2
