AUTHORIZING A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE
INITIATION OF CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS TO ACQUIRE THE
NECESSARY RIGHT-OF-WAY TO IMPROVE FORT EVANS ROAD AS
REQUIRED BY THE COMPREHENSIVE TOWN PLAN
WHEREAS, the adopted Town Comprehensive Plan shows Fort Evans Road as a four-lane
divided road; and
WHEREAS, the town has not received the necessary right-of-way and easements to complete
these public improvements; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to §15.2-1903 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, the Leesburg
Town Council is considering the initiation of condemnation to acquire the necessary right-of-way
easements along Fort Evans Road to complete these public improvements; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing shall be scheduled for August 10, 1999, to consider such action and
the adoption of an ordinance declaring the public use of the property and necessity therefore.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that a public
hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 1999, to consider the initiation of condemnation
proceedings to acquire the right-of-way necessary to improve Fort Evans Road as required by the Town
Plan to extend the width to four lanes divided and to consider the adoption of an ordinance to declare the
public use of the property and the necessity therefore.
