A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE SPRINGMIER COMMUNITY LIBRARY
ADOPTION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THE IOWA CODE 692A.113 REGARDING
EXCLUDSION OF A CERTAIN CLASS OF' SEXUAL OFFENDERS FROM PUBLIC
LIBRARIES.
WHEREAS the Springmier Community Library has requested the City of Tiffin, Iowa to
approve the adoption of a policy within the provisions of Iowa Code 692A.113 in
regards to the recent change in the Iowa Code which excludes registered sex
offenders convicted of sex offenses against minors from public libraries.
WHEREAS THE City Council of Tiffin, Iowa and City Attorney have reviewed the
request made by the Library Director and support the provisions of Iowa Code
692A.113.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED upon approval of policy, the Library Director will
develop, implement, and train library employees and volunteers on this approved
policy within the provisions of Iowa Code 692A.113.
Council person Gericke made a motion for Resolution 2009-36 for approval A

LIBRARIES, motion seconded by Council person Ball.
AYES: Chris Ball, Jim Bartels, Mike Gericke.
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Mark Petersen, One Vacancy
Whereupon, with three Council members were present and voted for approval, Mayor Phillips
declared the Resolution 2009-36 be adopted and signified his approval of the same by
affixing his signature thereto.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 16TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2009.
