New Photography Exhibit Opens at Leesburg Executive Airport
Leesburg, VA (February 27, 2012) – On Thursday, March 1, 2012, the Leesburg Commission on
Public Art will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new photography exhibit on display in the
Stanley Caulkins Terminal Building at the Leesburg Executive Airport (1001 Sycolin Road SE).
The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 6:45 p.m., officiated by Mayor Kristen Umstattd.
In 2011, the Commission on Public Art received a grant from the Town Council for the
installation of a semi-permanent photography at the Leesburg Executive Airport. Photography
students from the Art Institute of Washington-Northern Virginia conducted a photo shoot at
the airport and submitted photos to the Commission for consideration.
Commission members selected thirteen photographs, which have been hung in the third floor
hallway outside the airport administration office. The new exhibit can be viewed during the
airport administration office’s normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m.
The photographs selected for display include works by students Billy Morgan, John Phan, Jen
Cubas, Troy Sherman, Kim Ly and Paris Brody. The students were under the direction of
instructors Susan Serafin and Xang Mimi Ho.
