MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF DUNE 17, 2008
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on June 17, 2008 at 6:17
p.m. in the Medina City Hall. Mayor Crosby presided.
I. Call to Order
Members present: Weir, Crosby, Smith, Cavanaugh
Members absent: Johnson
Also present: City Administrator Chad Adams and Planning Director Tim
Benetti
II. Maple Grove Comprehensive Plan
Benetti provided an overview of the memo and highlights of the Maple Grove
Comprehensive Plan. The Council agreed to provide additional comment on: Medina's
appreciation for the southwest corner of Maple Grove being guided as low density; and,
encouragement of a future interconnection of water services between Maple Grove's
future southwest development and Medina's existing northeast development.
Staff was directed to prepare a comment letter and send to Maple Grove.
III. Loretto Comprehensive Plan
Benetti provided an overview of the memo and highlights of the Loretto Comprehensive
Plan. The Council agreed to provide additional comment on: a local neighborhood
connection between the two communities on the east border of Loretto because Medina
has guided that area as Urban Reserve; and, encouragement of a sewer connection for
off-peak sanitary sewer flow through the County Road 19 system as a measure to meet
the Lake Independence TMDL requirements.
Weir arrived at 6:35 p.m. during the Loretto discussion.
Staff was directed to prepare a comment letter and send to Loretto.
IV. Hennepin County Transportation Plan
Benetti provided an overview of the memo and highlights of the Transportation Plan.
The Council
Staff was directed to prepare a comment letter with more direct language and send to
Hennepin County.
