ADOPTED September 28, 1999 A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AN AMENDMENT TO THE LEESBURG TOWN PLAN ELIMINATING DAVIS AVENUE FROM THE TRANSPORTATION POLICY MAP WHEREAS, the Town's Environmental Advisory Commission, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission, and the Tree Commission have reviewed the impact of constructing Davis Avenue as called for in the 1997 Town Plan and have concluded that there would be negative and costly impacts if said road were constructed as planned; and WHEREAS, said Commissions have recommended that the Town Plan be amended to eliminate Davis Avenue from the Transportation Policy Map of the Town Plan so that said construction would not be required; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that Davis Avenue had not been included in the previous traffic studies conducted by the Virginia Department of Transportation on behalf of the Town, and therefore such elimination of the Davis Avenue link would have no impact on the transportation system as modeled; and WHEREAS, on September 21, the Planning and Zoning Committee of the Town Council considered said recommendation of said Commissions and recommended to the full Council that it initiate an amendment to the Transportation Element of the Town Plan t° eliminate the Davis Avenue segment of the road network as currently depicted in the Transportation Policy Map. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: , SECTION I: Staff is hereby directed to process a Town Plan Amendment in accordance with the procedures set forth in Section 15.2-2229 of the Code of Virginia to eliminate Davis Avenue from the Transportation Policy Map of the Transportation Element. 2 SECTION IV: This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
