INITIATING AND REFERRIbIG AMENDMENTS TO THE
LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE TO PERMIT AUTO BODY
REPAIR USE BY SPECIAL EXCEPTION IN THE I-1 INDUSTRIAL
RESEARCH PARK ZONING DISTRICT
WHEREAS, it is the intent and desire of Council to promote and enhance economic
development in the I-1 Industrial Research Park Zoning District District; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Ordinance does not currently permit heavy vehicle repair as either
a by-right or special exception use in the I-1 District; and
WHEREAS, the I-1 District is suited for heavy vehicle equipment repair based on the
industrial nature of other uses permitted in the district; and
WHEREAS, the proposed amendments will promote the public health, safety and welfare,
and will facilitate economic development within the Town.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. The following text amendments to the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance are
hereby 'initiated and referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation:
(a) ARTICLE 4 - COMMERCIAL ZONING DISTRICTS ·
SECTION 4E - I-1 INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH PARK ZONING DISTRICT

(b) Standards for the use shall be developed and added under Recticm 11 A-7 RPF, CIFIC
RF~VIF~W CRITERIA
(c) A definition for "auto body use" shall be developed and added under Article 1R
Definitinn~.
SECTION II. The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these
amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to the Town Council
pursuant to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
