Watertown Administration Building, Third Floor Conference Room
PRESENT: Dr. John Straus, Chairperson Dr. Barbara Beck, Secretary; Richard Arnold, Board
Member.
Staff: Larry Ramdin, Director of Public Health
In attendance: Dr. Heather McManus, Technical Advisor, Biotechnology regulations.
CALL TO ORDER: Dr. Straus called the meeting to order 7:15 pm
Minutes: Minutes of the May 15, 2019 meeting were approved(Beck, Arnold 2"d) 3-0.
Public Comment:
No public comments.
Discussion on Flavor Tobacco / Nicotine Delivery Device Flavors
The Board received communication from Dr Lester Hartman on concerns with flavored tobacco
and flavored nicotine delivery device "juice". The Board discussed the communication and
wanted more information. They instructed the Health Director to request that Dr. Hartman come
to the Board and present his concerns to the Baord, so they may have a better understanding of
the issue.
Review of Public Comments and editing Draft Biotechnoloev regulation
The Board reviewed the draft biotechnology regulation. The Board (with input from Dr.
McManus and Larry Ramdin) discussed the draft and made edits to the draft. Dr. Beck motioned
to have Mr. Ramdin add the edits to the redline draft and forward the edited draft to the town
attorney for a legal review. Seconded, Mr. Arnold. Motion 3-0
Department Update
Mr. Ramdin provided an update to the Board about the Health Department grants, public health
concerns and fall event plans.
Future Meeting Planning
The Board discussed future meetings and as in past would forgo having a meeting in August, the
next meeting will be held on September 18, 2019
