HomeMy Public PortalAboutAgriculture Commission -- 2007-03-08 MinutesMINi7TES of the MEETING of
The BREWSTER AGRICULTURAL COMNIISSION
Held Thursday, March 8, 2007, at 7:00 p.m.
At the Brewster Town Office Building, 2198 Main Street, Room A
Present: Peter Herrmann, Heather Mangelinkx, Dave Carlson, Julie Trzcinski and
Rebecca Howes.
Mr. Hemnann called the meeting to order at ?:00 p.m., minutes of the February 8th, 2007
meeting were accepted and unanimously approved by the board.
Elizabeth Taylor presented the facts of changing the by-law to a resolution for town
meeting. A resolution would only require a majority vote whereas the by-law would
require two-thirds. Discussion was made that it would have a better chance of passing if it
was a resolution but if it passed as a resolution it would probably be difficult to go back
and make it a by-law. If it failed at passing as a by-law we would have a chance of going
back to the resolution. After much discussion it was decided to keep it as a by-law but
hold off until the fall town meeting so that we can get more of the farmers in town to help
promote the by-law. Ms. Trzcinski made the motion for this and Mr. Carlson seconded,
all agreed.
Some of the terms of the board members were due to expire. Since Ms. Howes was put
on the board as an alternate to replace Washington Chase, Mr. Herrmann suggested she
speak with the selectmen's office to make her a full board member as Mr. Brown's term
has expired.
The next meeting will be held April 12`h. Mr. Carlson will try to get another map that we
can work with to finish mapping the farms and also pull together a mailing list of the
farms.
Mr. Carlson motioned to adjourn at 8:45, Ms. Trzcinski seconded and all agreed.
Respectfully submitted,
Heather Mangelinkx
