HomeMy Public PortalAbout2000_03_28_r059The Town of Leesburg, .._ rgtma RESOLUTION NO.~2d)IID.~59_- PRESENTED_~ ADOPTED March 28:2000 A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AND REFERRING AMENDMENTS TO THE I.EESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE REGARDING ARTICI .E 15 HOME OCCUPATION REGULATIONS WHEREAS, it is the intent and desire of Council to promote and enhance opportunities for home occupations in the Town of Leesburg; and WHEREAS, the Home Occupation Regulations currently permit artist and/or sculptor as a home occupation with certain use limitations; and WHEREAS, amending the district regulation regarding artist and/or sculptor will allow this type of home occupation to be engaged in more efficiently in accordance with the goals of the regulations; and WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice require the proposed amendments. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The following text amendments to Section 15A-5 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance are hereby initiated and referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation: Section 15A-5_ TIS~ IJMITATTON$ In addition to the regulations applicable in the zoning district in which located, all home occuPations shall be subject to the following limitations and requirements. (5) Limitation of Floor Area. No home occupation shall be permitted which comprises more than 25 percent of the gross floor area of the residence, nor more than 400 square feet of a permitted accessory structure, l~lowever: an artist or ,qculntor may n,qe un to 700 ,qo]mre feet of a nermitted acce,q,qorv ,qtnmture_ SECTION 11. The Planning Commission shall hold a public heating to consider these amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to the Town Council pursuant to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
