WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT STEERING COMMITTEE
Minutes of October 23,2008
A meeting of the Wastewater Management Steering Committee was called to order at 10:30 a.m. in the
Skaket Meeting Room at the Orleans Town Hall. Members Present: Augusta McKusick(Board of
Health); Sims McGrath(Planning Board); Ann Hodgkinson(Board of Water Commissioners); Judith
Bruce(Conservation Commission); John Hinckley(Board of Selectmen);Walter Bennett(Finance
Committee);George Meservey(Planning Director). Wright-Pierce Representative: Michael Giggey.
Also in attendance: John Hodgkinson, Bob Donath; Carolyn Kennedy; Alan McClennen;Jim Bast and
Andree Yager.
For the record,McKusick acknowledged the presence ofvarious Citizens'Advisory Committee members
and Alan McClennen in the audience. McKusick stated that the newly appointed Wastewater
Management Validation&Design Committee members were invited to come to this committee meeting,
but only Sims McGrath was present(he is a member of both committees).
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: September 4,2008
MOTION: On a motion by Sims McGrath, seconded by Judith Bruce,the Board voted to approve the
minutes of September 4,2008.
VOTE: 5-0-0 The motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: September 18,2008
MOTION: On a motion by Judith Bruce, seconded by Ann Hodgldnson,the Board voted to approve
the minutes of September 18, 2008.
VOTE: 5-0-0 The motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: October 2 200
MOTION: On a motion by Sims McGrath, seconded by Ann Hodgkinson,the Board voted to approve
the minutes of October 2,2008.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Conservation Commission-Bruce reported that the Conservation Commission voted unanimously to
support the draft Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan article on the October 27,2008
Special Town Meeting warrant.
Board of Water Commissioners-Hodgkinson reported that the Board of Water Commissioners voted in
a majority(with one abstention)to support the draft Comprehensive Wastewater Management
Plan article on the October 27,2008 Special Town Meeting warrant.
Planning Board-McGrath reported that the Planning Board voted in a majority(4-0-1 with one vote in
opposition)to support the draft Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan article on the
October 27,2008 Special Town Meeting warrant.
DRAFT COMPREHENSIVE WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
Committee members carefully scrutinized the draft Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan
presentation for the Special Town Meeting on October 27,2008 prepared by Michael Giggey from
Wright-Pierce and offered comments and suggestions for consideration by town meeting voters.
Committee members agreed on the importance of presenting the results of either a positive or negative
vote by town residents.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 12:29 p.m.
