HomeMy Public PortalAboutBuilding & Needs Assessment -- 2007-11-14 MinutesBuilding Needs & Assessment Committee November 14, 2007 Call to order Bob Miller called to order the regular meeting of the Brewster Building Needs & Assessment Committee at 7:30pm on November 14, 2007 in Brewster Town Hall. Roll call The following persons were present: Mark O'Brien, Jeff Tubman, Robert Miller, Charles Sumner, Don Poole, Paul Bradford, Richard Kosinski Open issues Golf Course Pavilion -HVAC Mark O'Brien provided a brief overview of the status of the Golf Pavilion HVAC project. Jeff Tubman has undertaken a rather thorough review of the current plans and specifications. Mark will setup a meeting with the current designers, along with Jeff Tubman and Robert Miller. They will make a determination of what direction we should pursue in terms of modifying the plans. The real issue is exposed versus unexposed ductwork. Obviously the unexposed ductwork may be cost prohibitive. The timing of the issuance of the bid documents was also problematic. Clarification of specification details may also result in better bids. The low bidder also had some cost saving ideas which should be considered. Approval of minutes from last meeting The minutes of October 10, 2007 were approved as written. Council on Aging -Window replacement A contract for the window repair and replacement project was issued this week. There is a several week lead-time to order the window units. As soon a Charlie Sumner receives a project schedule from the contractor he will inform the committee members. Eddy School -Trim Replacement Proiect Bob Miller is working with the School Department to identify significant outstanding repair projects at either school. Also Bob Miller and Charles Sumner are working together to determine the process to select a designer for the trim replacement project. Alternative Energy Committee Jeff Tubman attended the latest committee meeting. A representation from the Massachusetts Technology Council attended the meeting to discuss grant-funding options. They have given us permission to use these wells for test analysis purposes. The water test will allow us to make a determination on the geothermal alternates. If the water tests are problematic then we will most likely move in the direction of a traditional HVAC system. Town Bandstand/Gazebo -Drummer Boy Park This building is in need of a series of several small repairs. Bob Miller will work with Tom Thatcher to see if in house staff can handle this scope. Also, Bob Miller will contact Alice Oberdorf to see if we can get a set of sample bid specifications for a shingle roof replacement at the Drummer Boy Gift Shop Building. This is a fairly simple job which we may want to seek funding at the May 2008 Annual Town Meeting. Bob Miller met with Ed Lewis, Chairman of the BOS concerning the Fire Station feasibility study. The Selectmen intend to start working on this project shortly now that the water office/garage project is underway. Adjournment Bob Miller adjourned the meeting. s~: ti» vl Ndr so.
