A RESOLUTION: PRESENTED May 9. 2000 2000-92 ADOPTED May 9, 2000 AWARDING A CONTRACT TO DEWBERRY AND DAVIS IN THE AMOUNT OF $170,000 FOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ROUTE 621 PARK SITE WHEREAS. in April. 1999. the Town of Leesburg purchased a seventy-seven acre tract of land along Route 621 known as the Grenata property; and WHEREAS. the Town Council designated approximately twenty acres of the total tract of land to be used as a future park site; and WHEREAS. the Town Council approved a preliminary concept site plan for the development of active recreation facilities at the park to accommodate such uses as youth football, little league baseball, girl's softball, and outdoor basketball; and WHEREAS. in January 2000. the Leesburg Town Council. with the support of the Leesburg Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission. appropriated $250.000 as part of the mid year budget to design and engineer the development of the Route 621 park site; and WHEREAS. in February 2000. a Request for Proposals (RFP) for landscape architectural design and engineering services was issued; and WHEREAS. five proposals were received and evaluated by the Selection Committee in March. and two finns were chosen for interviews; and WHEREAS. in April 2000. the Selection Committee interviewed Dewberry and Davis. and Lewis. Scully. and Gionet. and upon completion of the interviews, the Selection Committee recommended Dewberry and Davis; and WHERE.. The RFP process and fee negotiations were conducted in accordance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act and Town of Leesburg procurement guidelines; and -2- RESOLUTION: CONTRACT AWARD ROUTE 621 PARK SITE WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends approval of the award of contract to Dewberry and Davis in the amount of $170,000 for landscape architectural design and engineering services for the development of the Route 621 park site. THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: The Town Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract, in a form approved by the Town Attorney, with Dewberry and Davis in the amount of $170,000 for landscape architectural design and engineering services for the development of the Route 621 park site.
