HomeMy Public PortalAboutCable Television Advisory -- 2007-09-04 MinutesMinutes of the meeting of the Brewster Cable TV Advisory Committee scheduled for 7:00 pm on Tuesday 4 September 2007. The meeting is called to order at 7:00 pm on Tuesday 4 September 2007 by Larry Greeley. Members present at this time are: Larry Greeley Norman Adams Walter Powers Ellie Smith Norman Adams distributes copies of the draft minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 3 July 2007. A motion is made by Larry Greeley and seconded by Walter Powers to accept the minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 3 July 2007 as presented. The vote to accept is unanimous. Larry reports that the Board of Selectmen have chosen a person to fill a vacancy in this committee. This person is not here tonight -perhaps he has not yet been sworn in. Larry reports on the recent developments and the current status concerning the Brewster "G" (ie government) channel becoming active. Larry met with Charlie Sumner in regard to the "Anycast" system. This system is completely portable and has robotic cameras etc so that a single person can operate it to record meetings in any of a wide variety of sites. However, as is usual with any video recording scheme, for best results the audio channels should be attended to by an additional person while the video acquisition and overall control is provided by the principal operator. The question of getting an "Anycast" system has been brought to the Board of Selectmen where it was received in a generally favorable way. The next phase is the choice of the fixed equipment, both the electronics to send the TV material from Brewster to the place where it will be introduced into the system that supplies cable TV to Brewster, and the space for those electronics and, particularly in the case of live cablecasts of Brewster meetings and the like, space for an operator. Bumping out the wall at the far end of Room B (to create suitable space behind the wall) has been mentioned. Another element of fixed equipment is a set of hard-wired gooseneck-mounted microphones at the raised long curved table generally used by the Board of Selectmen, including the hard wiring and some sort of suitable audio control panel. Charlie is taking an active role in these discussions with Larry Larry points out that Jim Tvrdik (a member of this committee but unable to attend tonight) has had in his business aspect close involvement with the similar very recent development of the "G" channel in Orleans. Orleans has defined and created appropriate space, defined and acquired appropriate equipment, and now has an operating system for the Orleans "G" channel. Using that experience Jim will be putting together a detailed proposed list of the requirements and of the associated costs in Brewster, for use in constructing an article for a future Brewster town meeting. Larry mentions as a point of information that some people in Yarmouth are starting to talk about Cape- wide regional interactions and involvment. Larry opines that in our area we are still so concerned with achieving interaction among and involvement by the 6 lower Cape towns that consideration of grander regionalization matters are not a useful employment of our time and effort. The next meeting of the Brewster CTVAC will be at the regulaz date & time to wit 7:00 pm on Tuesday 2 October 2007. The meeting seems to be out of other business to be taken up tonight, and a motion to adjourn is made by Ellie Smith and seconded by Walter Powers. The motion is passed unanimously. The meeting is adjourned at 8:14 pm. Submitted by Norman Adams, Clerk, Brewster CTVAC 0 C'7 W O rn ~~ r-r, ;~ n
