HomeMy Public PortalAbout2000_06_13_r106 The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED June 13, 2000 RESOLUTION NO. 2000-106 ADOPTED June 13, 2000 A RESOLUTION: INITIATING A ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT TO AMEND THE MINIMUM DISTRICT SIZE IN THE B-3, COMMUNITY RETAIL/COMMERCIAL DISTRICT WHEREAS, regulations in the B-3, Community Retail/Commercial zoning district require a minimum district size of five (5) acres; and WHEREAS, there are areas within the town limits that are intended to be rezoned to the B- 3 zoning district in the future, which, due to surrounding nonconforming development cannot achieve the required minimum district size at this time; and WHEREAS, amending the minimum district size regulation will promote more efficient infill and redevelopment pattems in remaining vacant areas of the town intended for Community Commercial development; and WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice support the proposed initiation request. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. consideration by recommendation. SECTION Staff is hereby authorized to process a Zoning Ordinance amendment for the Planning Commission and Town Council for their evalUation and II. The Planning Commission is directed to review and provide a recommendation to the Town Council concerning amendments to the Zoning Ordinance with regard to the minimum district size in the B-3, Community Retail/Commercial zoning district in accordance with the provisions of Section 15.2-2229 of the Code of Virginia. A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AN AMENDMENT TO THE TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT 2 SECTION III. This initiation is for the purpose of determining the appropriateness of the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendment and that such initiation does not constitute a Council endorsement.
