HomeMy Public PortalAbout2000_06_27_r120The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED June 27, 2000 RESOLUTION NO. 2000-120 ADOPTED June 27, 2000 A RESOLUTION: AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE COVERAGES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2000 WHEREAS, on May 24, 2000, the town received proposals from insurance agents and brokers to provide the town with property and casualty insurance coverages for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, and WHEREAS, the proposals have been reviewed and evaluated by the town's insurance consultant, McNeary Insurance Consukants, Inc.; and WHEREAS, McNeary recommends, and the town manager and the director of finance concur, the award of the town's property and casualty insurance coverage to The Virginia Municipal League Virginia Municipal Liability Pool and Environmental Liability with the exception of Airport liability, which is recommended to be awarded to the Hargrove Insurance Agency and AIG through Arrnfield, Harrison & Thomas, Inc. respectively; and WHEREAS, the Town Council believes that there are compelling factors in favor of awarding this contract to PENCO through their agent Armfield, Harrison and Thomas, Inc; THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Leesburg Town Council that the town manager is authorized to enter into contracts for the town's insurance coverages for fiscal year 2000 as follows: SECTION I. The town's coverage for miscellaneous floater property, boiler and machinery, electronic data processing, public officials, and law enforcement liability coverages for property, flood and earth movement, general liability, crime/bond, automobile and garage -2- RESOLUTION - AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR INSURANCE COVERAGES liability, and umbrella liability be awarded to PENCO, through Armfield, Harrison & Thomas, Inc., at a premium of $156,640; and SECTION II. The town's coverage for Airport liability be awarded to Phoenix Aviation through their agent A.W. Hargrove at a premium of $12,677; and SECTION III. The town's coverage for environmental liability be awarded to the American International Specialty Lines Insurance Company through their agent AH&T Insurance Agency at a premium of $9,851.
