HomeMy Public PortalAbout2016-10-06 minutesCity of Jefferson Police Personnel Board Minutes – October 6, 2016 The meeting was called to order at 12:03 p.m. Six persons attended as follows: BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT (6) STAFF PRESENT (3) Mr. Rick Derks (Chair) Sara Trittler, H.R. Mr. Ray Bledsoe Lt. Jeff Stiefermann Ms. Lisa Turner (Secretary) Chief Roger Schroeder Mr. Bill Burton (Vice-Chair) Mr. Rob Trowbridge Mr. Wesley Dickman BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT (1) Ms. Kelly Dillon Following greetings, roll call was taken. Motion was made to approve the old minutes, it was seconded and approved unanimously. OLD BUSINESS Lt. Stiefermann provided a staff update to the Board. Two new positions in the department were approved: GIS Information Systems Manager an additional Police Officer position. The JCPD now has a total of 127 employees which includes 89 Police Officers and 20 Communications Operators. The City approved a 2% pay raise. A city employee salary study is currently being conducted by a firm in KC. The Board requested to see the results of the study if and when they become available. Future testing dates were discussed and will not likely need to be conducted until late January 2017 for applicants to attend the academy in May 2017. NEW BUSINESS Chief Schroeder updated the Board about a former JCPD Police Officer desiring reemployment with the JCPD. The Officer left in good standing and had an impeccable record during his previous tenure with JCPD. The Board determined at the previous meeting that the former Officer could be rehired pending the results of a new background check. Chief Schroeder informed the Board that the previous Officers background check came back with no issues. It was determined that the former JCPD Police Officer will fill the additional Police Officer position recently authorized by the City. Tentative start date for the returning Officer will be November 7th, 2016. The next meeting date – November 3, 2016. Motion to adjourn the meeting was made, seconded, and approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 12:29 p.m.
