HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2012-04-10 AOTG Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release Artist Lineup for 9th Annual Acoustic on the Green Summer Concert Series in Downtown Leesburg Announced Leesburg, VA (April 10, 2012) – The artist lineup for the 9th annual Acoustic on the Green outdoor summer concert series has been announced. Founded in 2004, the Acoustic on the Green summer concert series was named a “Best Bet for Summer Concerts” by Washingtonian Magazine. The concert series is a joint production between the Town of Leesburg and the Leesburg businesses and individuals who advertise in the weekly program guides. The 2012 season will feature nine returning artists from the 2011 series, including Jon Carroll, Ted Garber, Native Run (formerly Deep River), Prescott Engle, Michael Sheppard, Gary Smallwood, Don Chapman, Robbie Limon and Jennifer Daniels. Joining the returning artists for 2012 are Naked Blue (last seen at Acoustic on the Green in 2010) and Cal Everett. The eleven free concerts will be on Saturday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the Town Green (25 West Market Street), beginning on June 9th and running through August 25th. Last winter, Jon released his first solo album in over a decade, “Love Returns.” • Ted Garber was the 2010-2011 Strathmore Artist in Residence and his album “Live at Strathmore” won the 2011 Washington Area Music Award for Pop Rock Recording of the Year. • Native Run (formerly Deep River) was recently profiled by Paste Magazine in their “Best of What’s Next” series. • New to Acoustic on the Green, Cal Everett is one of the most accomplished singer/songwriters of his generation. A Loudoun resident, Cal was a founding member of the beloved pop rock group, 4 Out of 5 Doctors. He recently played the Birchmere with Crowded House’s Tim Finn. • Robbie Limon will perform in “An Evening with Buddy Holly” at the Totem Pole Playhouse in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania from May 16 through May 20. Later this summer, Robbie will reprise his portrayal of the legendary Hank Williams, Sr., in “Lost Highway” at the Wayside Theatre in Middletown, Virginia. • A two-time Wammie winner for Male Vocalist of the year, Michael Sheppard’s band Milkshake recently raised funding for their 5th CD, “Got a Minute,” on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter.
