AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT A REVISED OFFICIAL ZONING MAP INDICATING THE
REALIGNED BOUNDARIES OF THE FC-1 FLOOD CHANNEL ZONE
WHEREAS, the Moab City Council (Council) adopted Title 17.00.00, also known as `The
Zoning Ordinance of Moab City, Utah" on May 19, 1954, and the associated Zoning Map
titled "Zone Map of Moab, Utah", in an effort to encourage and facilitate orderly growth
and development, promote a more attractive and wholesome environment, and to
protect the public health, safety and general welfare; and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has initiated a project
to generate a digital Flood Rate Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) that has upgraded the
FIRMs for many places in Moab, Utah (City) and altered the boundaries of the
designated floodway channel for Mill Creek and Pack Creek; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission (Commission) held a duly advertised public
hearing on the matter during their regular meeting held on March 20, 2009 to receive
testimony from the public and consider the recommendations from staff; and,
WHEREAS, the Commission favorably recommended the City of Moab Official Zoning
Map (Map) to the Moab City Council (Council) for review and approval; and,
WHEREAS, Council reviewed the Map during their regular meeting held on March 24,
2009, and agreed with the Commission that said Map should become the Official Zoning
Map for the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Moab City Council that the attached map
titled `The Official Zoning Map for the City of Moab" is hereby adopted and is an
acceptable representation of the zoning district boundaries for the City.
PASSED AND APPROVED in open Council by a majority vote of the Governing
Body of Moab City Council on April 14, 2009.
