EXTENDING A CONTRACT WITH WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS
IN THE AMOUNT OF $17,916 FOR THE ANNUAL SUPPORT AND
MAINTENANCE OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO USED BY THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the radio system used by the town's police department is currently under an
annual service agreement with Wireless Communications; and
WHEREAS, the current radio system upgrade requires the extensive involvement of
Wireless Communications; and
WHEREAS, Wireless Communications is currently working on an existing project with
the Police Department that deals with the relocation of the existing public safety radio antenna
and radio transmitter located on the water tower at the old hospital site.
WHEREAS, it is beneficial to maintain an uninterruptible liaison with this vendor until
the completion of these projects; and
WHEREAS, Wireless Communication has agreed to extend their annual contract under
the same terms and conditions and annual cost of $17,916.00 as in previous years; and
WHEREAS, it is believed to be in the best interest of the town to extend this contract as a
sole source procurement without the benefit of further competition.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
town manager is authorized to extend the contract for the annual support and maintenance of the
public safety radio to Wireless Communications in the amount of $17,916 effective July 1, 2000
through June 30, 2000 on behalf of the Town of Leesburg.
