AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE PROCEDURE FOR
APPROPRIATION AND PAYMENT OF REWARDS.
WHEREAS, The Indiana General Assembly has recodified and
revised the laws governing city government; and
WHEREAS, by Acts 1981, Public Law 13, Section 1, the Indiana
General Assembly repealed IC 18-6-21-1 which
allowed for the procedure for appropriation and
payment of rewards; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond, Indiana may now by ordinance
incorporate the powers and procedures that were
previously provided by said repealed statute; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the
City of Richmond, Indiana to adopt an ordinance
under IC 36-1-3-6 (b) for the continued appro-
priation and payment of rewards.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City
of Richmond, Indiana as follows:
SECTION 1. The Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana may appropriate money for a reward for
information leading to the apprehension, arrest
and conviction of person or persons for any
felony committed in such city.
SECTION 2. Such reward may be offered in such manner and
method as deemed appropriate by the Common Council
of the City of Richmond, Indiana or may be
delegated to any board or commission of the
municipality.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana this day of 1981.
