RESOLUTION TO ADPOT THE JOHNSON COUNTY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS. METRO
BICYCLE MASTER PLAN
WHEREAS, the Johnson County Council of Governments (JCCOG) has developed a Metro Bicycle Master Plan
and Executive Summary and has asked the City of Tiffin, Iowa to adopt this Plan.
WHEREAS, JCCOG has inventoried existing trails and bicycle facilities, examined community demographics and
community bicycling trends, and conducted a public engagement process including a survey, public meetings, and
news releases; and
WHEREAS, staff presented the JCCOG Metro Bicycle Master Plan and Executive Summary to the City Council;
and
WHEREAS, the JCCOG Transportation Technical Advisory Committee reviewed the JCCOG Metro Bicycle
Master Plan and Executive Summary at its regular meeting on May 14, 2009; and
WHEREAS, adoption of the JCCOG Metro Bicycle Master Plan and Executive Summary does not bind the City
Council to any specific recommendations, and any recommendations that would require further City Council
action, such as funding requests, intergovernmental agreements, or the conveyance of real property, would be
brought to the City Council for consideration by ordinance or resolution as appropriate; and
WHEREAS, recommendations of the JCCOG Metro Bicycle Master Plan will guide decision-making on bicycle
facilities and programs in the City of Tiffin, Iowa.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA THAT:
JCCOG Metro Bicycle Master Plan and Executive Summary, dated June 2009 and on file in the office of the City
Clerk is hereby adopted.
On this 14th day of October 2009, at a regular meeting of the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa, Council person
Bartels introduced Resolution 2009-42 and made a motion for approval. The motion was seconded by Council
person Ball.
AYES: Chris Ball, Jim Bartels, Mike Gericke.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Mark Petersen, One - Vacancy:
Whereupon, with three votes, Mayor Phillips declared the Resolution 2009-42 be adopted and signified his
approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 14th day of October 2009.
