RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 175 ADOPTED September 12, 2000
A RESOLUTION: AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR BRIDGE DECK
REHABILITATION OF THE SOUTH KING STREET BRIDGE OVER
TUSCARORA CREEK TO VIRGINIA PAVING COMPANY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $130,300
WHEREAS, the FY00 Capital Improvement Program includes a project for rehabilitation
of the northbound lanes of the South King Street Bridge over Tuscarora Creek; and
WHEREAS, in response to a public solicitation for bids for construction of the project,
the town received a single bid from the following firm:
· Virginia Paving Company$130,300
WHEREAS, the bid was evaluated by the Contracts Administrator in accordance with the
town Purchasing Policy; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Paving Company of Sterling, Virginia, was determined to be a
responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, rebidding the project in hopes of receiving more bids is unlikely to result in
a lower price because of the heavy workload in construction work in the Washington
Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance reports that sufficient funds are available to award a
contract for the work; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Engineering and Public Works, and the Contracts
Administrator recommend awarding a contract to Virginia Paving Company in the amount of
$130,300 for Bridge Deck Rehabilitation of the South King Street Bridge over Tuscarora Creek.

REHABILITATION OF THE SOUTH KING STREET BRIDGE OVER
TUSCARORA CREEK TO VIRGINIA PAVING COMPANY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $130,300
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
The town manager is authorized to execute a contract with Virginia Paving Company in
the amount of $130,300 for Bridge Deck Rehabilitation of the South King Street Bridge over
Tuscarora Creek.
