HomeMy Public PortalAboutCommunity Preservation Committee -- 2007-07-25 MinutesDate approved 8-29-07 Vote 7-0-0 TOWN OF BREWSTER COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes 7uly 25, 2007 Chairman Elliott Carr called the meeting to order at 4:30 PM. Members present were; Paul Hush, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Lach, Roy Robinson, Jeanne Boehm and Paul Ruchinskas. Members missing were Roland Bassett Jr. and William Reyburn. 1. Available Funding Discussion with Charlie Sumner and Lisa Souve regarding available funds for Open Space. Accounting presented to CPC will be updated to include funding provided by state. 2. Applications Cape Repertory Theater- requesting $200,000 on a $600,000 project. It is proposed on 3 levels; historical, housing and recreation. Both Historical and Housing have major issues with the question of the lease. Need Town Counsel opinion regarding the nature of the lease. Mr. Sumner noted the Town has a lease at Crosby Mansion and they still keep control over the property. There are concerns with 12 years left on the lease. The State owns the property- would they extend. Refer to Historical, Housing and Town Counsel and work together. Time frame is limited because Town Meeting deadline will be early September. Recreation Application- Playground at Stony Brook School, not filed as of yet. Historic- a) Windows in COA building-formally received and HDC approved b) Archives-vault work- formally received and HDC approved Open Space- Stranahan Property- Town to purchase for 1.2 million (state aid of $500,000/net $630,000 to be requested from various Brewster sources.) Committee is waiting for the application before vote-possibly next meeting. 3. Historical Commission Draft Memorandum of Understanding was presented. Town Counsel created and reviewed. Process for application and approval of request for historical preservation grant from CPC was presented and will be voted at the next meeting. CPC Minutes 07-25-07 4.Other business a) August meeting Dates- NOT MEETING AUGUST 22, WILL MEET: AUGUST 29 Applicants and Presentations b) Peter Johnson (Open Space Committee) new committee members, confidence going forward. c) New CPC Member: Jeanne Boehm replaces Steve McKenna from Conservation Commission.
