TOWN OF BREWSTER
COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
Meeting Minutes
October 10, 2007
Chairman Elliott Carr called the meeting to order at 4:30 PM. Members present were; Paul
Hush, Elizabeth Taylor, Jeanne Boehm, Roland Bassett Jr., Paul Ruchinskas, William
Reyburn and Roy Robinson. Member missing was Michael Lach.
1. Open Space
Map 49 Lot 29, CRYSTALOSKI property. It abuts the town well fields, $13,000 per acre, 5.36
acres. Total cost $69,680. Letter of intent has been signed. P+S is being drawn up. The town
owns the lot below and 2 lots to the North. This precluded development behind, questionable raod
access.
Motion by Roland Bassett Jr. to request $69,680.00 for purchase of Map 49 Lot 29
(CRYSTALOSKI). Second by Paul Hush. VOTE: 7-0-0.
No word from the state on Stranahan project.
2. Housing Needs Assessment
Karen Sunenborg- Consultant- Urban Planning Focus on Housing
Discussion on the needs assessment; two-stage process (assessment and strategies).
Comparisons to other towns. Enforcement aspect has to be considered. Work in
partnership with developers is necessary in order to achieve any significant scale. Discussion
of what strategies have worked elsewhere. Addition of professional support is often key to
effective implementation of the plan.
Addition of professional support; Town planner or a Housing Trust.
Public Forum: Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 7:00 PM.
All Town Boards invited.
