RESOLUTION NO. 2000-187 ADOPTED September 12, 2000
A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF ACORN GLOBE STREET
LIGHTS WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE SOUTH KING STREET
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AND MAKING A TRANSFER OF
FUNDS
WHEREAS, a number of residents who live within the limits of the South King Street
Improvements Project (300 and 400 blocks) have requested that the town install acorn globe
street lights to replace the existing cobrahead street lights; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Power provided a cost estimate in the amount of $12,000.00 to
furnish and install nine (9) acorn globe street lights; and
WHEREAS, concrete bases and underground conduit for the nine street lights must be
installed by the town at an estimated cost of $15,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the acorn globe street lights are more attractive than the existing cobrahead
street lights and will provide a more appropriate street scape for this old and historic street.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. The Town Manager is authorized to issue a purchase order to Virginia
Power in the amount of $12,000.00 for the installation of nine (9) acorn globe street lights in the
300 and 400 blocks of South King Street.
SECTION Il. A change order in the amount of $15,000.00 to the town's contract with
Rustler Construction, Inc. is hereby authorized for the installation of underground conduit and
concrete bases for the nine (9) acorn globe street lights in the 300 and 400 blocks of South King
Street.

SECTION m. The Director of Finance is authorized to transfer $27,000.00 from the
contingency fund for debt reduction t_o Budget Account 903-9314-700-725.
