A RESOLUTION:
SELECTING A LANDSCAPING PLAN FOR THE MEDIAN OF THE
ENTRANCE RAMP INTO LEESBURG FROM ROUTE 7 TO WEST
MARKET STREET
WHEREAS, the FY2001 Capital Improvements Program includes a project for
improvements to the entrance ramp into Leesburg from Route 7 to West Market Street, and
WHEREAS, the town's consultant, Paciulli Simmons and Associates, has prepared four
(4) landscaping plans for consideration by the Town Council as follows:
Option 1 - This plan includes the removal of the existing bushes and other vegetation in
the existing median of the ramps. The plan shows the installation of 61 Andorra Junipers
and 188 compact Pfitzer Junipers. The cost estimate for Option 1 is $16,000.
Option 2 - Plan number 2 includes the removal of the existing bushes and vegetation.
Brick or concrete paving blocks are to be placed between the curbs in the median. A three
board, wooden fence would be installed along the center of the median. This option does
not include any plant material and would require less maintenance. The cost estimate is
$53,000.00.
Option 3 - This plan is very similar to plan number 1 but an entrance sign has been
added. The sign would be similar to the entrance sign on East Market Street. The
estimated cost of this option is $27,000.00.
Option 4 - This plan includes removal of the existing vegetation, the installation of 18
Armstong Maples, a town entrance sign similar to the entrance sign on East Market Street
and 30 small holly bushes around the sign. The estimated cost of this option is
$24,000.00.
WHEREAS, the Director on Engineering and Public Works recommends that the Town
Council select the landscaping that is to be installed in the median so it may be installed in the
fallof2000.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
