AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE BUREAU
OF JUSTICE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT
FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice has established additional funds for the 1999 Local
Law Enforcement Block Grant Program for the purpose of reducing crime and improving public
safety; and
WHEREAS, the program provides localities discretion on the designation of the grant
funds; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Police Department has applied for a LLEBGP to pay for
unbudgeted equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg is eligible to receive $11,228.00 in federal funds by
providing matching funds of $1,248.00; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council held a public hearing on this grant program on October
31, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the Town Mm~ager and Chief of Police both recommend participation in this
agreement.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
The Town Manager shall authorize acceptance of this grant by the police department.
