Members present: Mayor, Thomas Anderson; Couneilmembers, Sarah Lutz, William Reiser,
Nancy Laurent ( at 7:20 p.M.) City Assessor, William Dredge; Hennepin
County Assessor, Don Monk; Clerk, Donna Roehl.
Assessor Wm. Dredge reviewed the following properties from the June 5th meeting:
phil Zietlow, 875 Co. Rd. 24: Mr. Zietlow is satisfied with the valuation, just needed
an explanation.
Ivan McGinnis, 4612 Walnut St.: Recommended that valuation on Lots 14, and 16, Block 7, Ind-
ependence Beach, be reduced to $2500 each, as they had been combined into one building site
with Lot 15 for sewer assessment purposes.
Lawrence Elwell, 6125 HWy. 101: Acreage assessment has been adjusted, all parcels are now in
line.
Emil Jubert, house at 2835 Co. Rd. 19: Theme are structural damages but wouldret recommend
lowering the valuation from $40,500.
Mr. Jubert inquired as to why all of Independence Beach had not be reassessed at the same time.
Don Monk replied that this is the 4th year of a 4 year assessment cycle and some of those
properties have been reassessed during the past 3 years. This is a continuing process for
assessing Hennepin County.
Nancy Laurent discussed the Green Acres law with Mr. Monk stating that it will be impossible
to retain farmland if the law is changed.
Charles Pangier, 4605 Fern St.: Assessor recommended leaving valuation of land and buildings
as is.
Discugsion of the possibility that a house at Independence Beach is not on the assessment
roles.
Don Monk stated that he could include this under the omitted property assessment law.
Motion by Laurent, seconded by Lutz to change the valuation on Ivan McGinnis' lots 14 and 16,
Block 7, Independence Beach to $2500 each.
Motion carried unanimously
Motion by Lutz, seconded by Laurent not to change the valuation on the Emil Jubert property.
Motion declared carried
Motion by Reiser, seconded by Lutz not to change the valuation on the Charles pangier property.
Motion declared carried
Motion by Laurent, seconded by Lutz not to change the valuation on phil Zietlow's property.
Motion declared carried
Council took no action on the Robert Scott property as Mr. Scott had not made an actual request
Council took no action on the Robert Franklin matter as Mr. Franklin had requested that he
be able to clear the matter up with Hennepin County.
Assessing bill from Hennepin County
Donna Roeh asked Mr. Monk what the County's responsibility is, under the law, in assisting
municipalities with assessing procedures.
Mr. Monk stated that they are to assist in assessing difficult parcels, not to do routine
work. Hennepin County is also responsible for seeing that the assessment is ready on a
pre -stated date.
Motion by Reiser, seconded by Laurent to pay the County assessing bill of $5644.53.
Motion declared carried
Motion by Reiser, seconded by Lutz to close the Board of Review meeting.
Motion declared carried
