HomeMy Public PortalAbout2001_02_27_r025 The Town of l...,eesburg, ~Virginia RESOLUTION NO. 2001-25 PRESENTED February 27, 2001 ADOPTED February 27, 2001 A RESOLUTION: DETERMINING THAT COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDDING IS NEITHER PRACTICABLE NOR FISCALLY ADV ANT AGEOUS FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE WHEREAS, in accordance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act, the town is required to competitively solicit sealed bids for insurance unless Council justifies in writing that competitive sealed bidding either is not practicable or not fiscally advantageous to the public, in which case a request for proposals (RFP) and competitive negotiation may be used; and WHEREAS, many insurance company policy forms have various differences in insuring agreements, conditions and exclusions; and '--- WHEREAS, competitive sealed bidding does not allow staff the latitude to negotiate the broadest form of coverage that may be available; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of staff and the town's insurance consultant that competitive sealed bidding is not practicable and not fiscally advantageous for the procurement of such insurance. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that competitive sealed bidding is not practicable and is not fiscally advantageous for the procurement of property and casualty insurance.
