'~ irglnla PRESENTED March 27.2001 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-39 ADOPTED March 27.2001 A RESOLUTION: ADOPTING A POLICY FOR PLACING OVERHEAD UTILITY LINES UNDERGROUND ON CERTAIN STREETS IN LEESBURG WHEREAS, improving the appearance of major roadways in the downtown historic district and along major approaches to the downtown is a goal of the town; and WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council desires to establish a policy for placing overhead utilities underground on certain streets. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council ofthe Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: The Policy for Placing Overhead Utility Lines Underground On Certain Streets in Leesburg is as follows: 1. The roadway shall be a major thoroughfare in the Historic District (Market Street, Loudoun Street, and King Street), or the roadway shall be a major thoroughfare leading to the Historic District (King Street North and South) and Market Street (East and West). ',--- 2. A major street improvement project must be underway. 3. Funds for placing the overhead utilities underground must be available. 4. Cost to relocate and reconnect service lines will be paid by the town. 5. Cost estimates for major street improvement projects should include costs for placing overhead utilities underground.
