A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING A CONTRIBUTION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$3,000 FROM THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
CONTRACTURAL SERVICES ACCOUNT TO HELP
SPONSOR THE LOUDOUN BORDER GUARDS FIFE AND
DRUM CORPS 2001 PARADE AND MUSTER
WHEREAS, the Loudoun Border Guards and the Loudoun Museum will host the
2nd Fife and Drum Muster - 2001 Fife and Drum Odyssey at Ida Lee Park, Friday, May
4th through Saturday, May 5th, 2001; and
WHEREAS, the Muster will take place on the grounds of Ida Lee Park, and
requires use of the park from set-up Thursday, May 3rd through clean-up on Sunday, May
6th . and

WHEREAS, the event includes a parade on Saturday, May 5; and
'- WHEREAS, the parade route requires the temporary street closings of Wirt Street
from North Street to Loudoun Street, Loudoun Street to King Street, King Street to Ida
Lee Drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, town services and facilities are required to accommodate this event
and parade; and
WHEREAS, town services and facilities associated with this event include; police
staff for the parade, public works staff for the parade, and parks and recreation staff, and
use of the recreation center before and after normal operation hours, totaling $3,000.00;
and
WHEREAS, Anne Quinn, the event organizer, has requested a waiver of the
respective fees; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the respective contribution, the Loudoun Border
Guards Fife and Drum Corps has agreed to name the Town of Leesburg as a significant
event sponsor; and

AUTHORIZING A CONTRIBUTION - FIFE AND DRUM
PARADE AND MUSTER
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Assistant Town
Manager for Economic Development recommend approval of a contribution in the
amount of $3,000 to help offset the costs for town services and facilities associated with
this event.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
SECTION I. The Town Manager is hereby authorized to appropriate $3,000
from the Economic Development Contractual Account for a contribution to help offset
the costs for town services and facilities associated with the 2nd Fife and Drum Parade
and Muster - 2001 Fife and Drum Odyssey at Ida Lee Park, Friday, May 4th through
Saturday, May 5th, 2001.
PASSED this 27th day of March 2001.
