ATWELL REGARDING THE REDISTRICTING OF LOUDOUN COUNTY SUPERVISOR ELECTION DISTRICTS WHEREAS, on March 31, 2001, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors convened a public input session on the number of election districts and redistricting guidelines; and WHEREAS, Councilman George F. Atwell spoke before the Board on behalf of the Leesburg Town Council; and WHEREAS, Mr. Atwell stated that the 1991 redistricting that divided Leesburg into three districts was less than satisfactory for the health, safety, and general welfare of the town; and WHEREAS, Mr. Atwell requested that the Board look closely at forming eleven election districts to allow for smaller, more homogeneous districts; and WHEREAS, Mr. Atwell requested that the Board consider dividing Leesburg into only two districts. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Council hereby endorses the comments of Councilman George F. Atwell regarding the redistricting of Board of Supervisor election districts. PASSED this l0th day of April 2001. ATTEST: Town of Leesburg yerk of Qc~uncil R: redistricting
